I recently travelled with my family for a holiday to the South Island of New Zealand. Most of you have probably travelled to New Zealand and therefore would be familiar with the standard of accommodation that is on offer, however I would like to share something a little different, which I experienced on the South Island.

Valley Views Glamping is located on the foothills of Mount Domett, in the picturesque countryside of the Waitaki Valley. This ‘glampsite’ is approximately halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown, and about an hour away from Twizel (near Lake Tekapo).

The property is also situated near a number of wineries, the quirky steam punk town of Oamaru, and is also along bike trails, such as the famous Foodie Bike Trail.

Amber and Patrick Tyrell are the owners and operators of Valley Views, and were incredibly welcoming and accommodating during our stay.

Their property is off the beaten track, which allows you to immerse yourself in the countryside surroundings, whilst staying in extremely comfortable geodesic dome tents with super king-sized beds. While the property may be eco-friendly, you definitely do not compromise on comfort, as it is a true ‘glamping’ experience.

There are a number of activities to do at Valley Views Glamping. You can fill your days with taking leisurely walks, cycling, and horse-riding lessons. Otherwise nearby, you can experience Jet Boating on the Waitaki River, a scenic helicopter flight, or a relaxing massage - if this is more your cup of tea.

Amber was a delightful host and organised for our children to visit her friends on a nearby farm to see some alpacas, which was one of the highlights from our travels - especially for the kids!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Valley Views, and I have no doubt you will love the experience as much as we did. If you have any queries at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
