The Maldives makes us all think of white sandy beaches and crystal clear blue waters and arriving into the Maldives during the day, did not disappoint. It was the best way to see the magical expanse of water with all the many islands dotted along.

Upon touching down at the airport everything was conveniently located, so we did not need to wait around. Within 30 minutes we arrived at Club Med Kani.

Club Med Kani is a beautiful 4- and 5-star resort on its own little island. It has varying styles of accommodation from Club Rooms on the pristine white sandy beach to Overwater Bungalows.

I was lucky enough to stay in an Overwater Bungalow, where lazy days were spent laying around on my own private deck, watching the stunning local marine life. Club Med Kani offers an exclusive selection of private spaces and activities reserved for guests staying in the Overwater Bungalows.

The next slice of paradise was Anantara Dhigu, staying in one of their Overwater Bungalows. It’s a hard life but someone has to do it!

Anantara Dhigu is located on an island about 30 minutes by speedboat, from the airport. It is a group of three island resorts on one lagoon. Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli, and a private island called Naladhu. All the resorts can be accessed by the resort’s private pontoon boat, which operates 24 hours a day.

Anantara Dhigu is a luxury 5-star property boasting lovely Beach and Pool Villas, as well as the magnificent Overwater Bungalows. Anantara Veli, another 5-star property, offers Ocean Pool Bungalows and Overwater Villas. This is a couple’s resort with no children allowed (minimum age of 18). Anantara Naladhu is all about the private residence experience. It has lovely Ocean Villas, Beach Houses and a massive two-bedroom Pool Residence.

There are a total of 6 restaurants, which are located over the two islands. My favourite restaurant there is Baan Huraa, with the best Thai food I have had outside Thailand. There is also a special dining option called ‘Dining by Design’ which is a special setting on the beautiful white sandy beach.

Days here can be spent doing as little or as much as you like. Adventurous activities available are waterskiing, wakeboarding, parasailing, snorkelling and scuba diving to name a few. If that is all just too exhausting, then there are a number of beaches and pools to laze the day away at, sipping delightful cocktails!

Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. The main island of Mauritius is located about 2,000 kilometres off the southeast coast of the African continent, it is the perfect destination for a beach stay after a safari in Africa.

It is a beautiful island paradise, only 8 hours’ flight from Perth. There are a number of resort options and locations to stay, and with so many things to see and do. There’s hiking in the forested and mountainous interior, scuba diving, horse riding, kitesurfing and snorkelling, visits to the fabulous botanical gardens, as well as tea and rum plantations. At certain times of the year there is even whale watching available. With lots of beautiful beaches and pools to lie around relaxing in the sun, it is a perfect destination to relax and rejuvenate!

I was able to experience stays at three of the LUX properties in Mauritius, LUX Le Morne, LUX Belle Mare and LUX Grand Gaube. All of them are slightly different in style, but still have a common theme between all of them.

LUX Le Morne is on the western side of the island, and is in a great location, sheltered from most of the wind by a mountain behind it. LUX Belle Mare is on the East Coast with a great beach area - a little windier than the West Coast. LUX Grand Gaube is north of the island and is sheltered from the winds by huge banyan trees.

Some of the unique offerings from these resorts are:

Wishing Tree – you can place any wish there, and once a year, a ribbon is picked winning its owner a free holiday.

Message in a bottle – These are hidden bottles around the resort with messages. If you find one, you win whatever it says in the message.

An old-style phone booth – where you can call anywhere in the world for free.

If you would like to know more about my trip to the Maldives or Mauritius, then please do not hesitate to phone me or come see me at the Malvern store.
